REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BST/BST2, WST/WST2, OB1, AD and TE TESTS

All dogs must be pre-registered with the WABA, one form per dog, no later than 14 days before the date of the trial.

**All dogs born after Jan 1st 1997 must have a tattoo or microchip.

**WABA scorebooks are mandatory for all dogs testing.

Registration is accomplished by filling out and sending a Test Registration Form (see link above) to the WABA along with the required paperwork and fees (see below).

The tests are conditionally open to other breeds, the same rules and restrictions apply.

The minimum age requirement for dogs is 12 months for the OB1, 13 months for the WST and 18 months for the BST.  The minimum age requirement for dogs testing for the AD (endurance test) is 16 months and a maximum permissible age of 6 years.  Dogs over six years of age must have vet certification stating that the dog is in good health and capable of running 12 miles safely.

The following paperwork must be mailed, faxed or e-mailed in advance to the WABA along with a completed Test Registration Form: 

1. A copy of the dog’s registration papers.  Puppy registration papers are not accepted.

2. A minimum 3 generation pedigree, issued by a WABA recognized registry.  

3. A photograph or digital image of the entered dog taken from the side or ¾ side view.  Photos are for WABA records and will not be returned, please do not fax photographs. 

Dogs being tested for the BST must also submit the following:

1. Copy of an final OFA certificate with a rating of borderline or better OR a copy of a PennHip evaluation, in its entirety, done after the age of 12 months, with a maximum D.I. of .54 (2006 median breed score, subject to change)** with no evidence of CHD or DJD.  Preliminary OFA evaluations are not accepted.  Most international hip certificates are also accepted.

2. Veterinarian certified weight, dated within two months of the test date. 

3. Copies of official documents or certificates of any titles previously acquired by the dog (refer to list of recognized titles) that you wish to be acknowledged. 

The appropriate fees (in United States dollars) must be submitted in cash, cashiers checks, money orders or personal checks made out to the WABA or; PayPal (call or e-mail for details). 

Fees are as follows:

Scorebook-$15.00 per dog; BST-$45.00 per dog; WST-$35.00 per dog; BST2/WST2-$45; OB1-$35.00; Temperament Evaluation (TE)-$45; AD-$45.00.  **Fees are subject to change.

Retesting fees are as follows: All tests: $25

If for some unforeseen circumstances the dog cannot test, the money can either be refunded (minus a $5 processing fee) or the WABA will hold it until a future test date.

The required paperwork will be reviewed and verified by the WABA. Incomplete paperwork may render the dog(s) ineligible to participate or cause the dogs title to be withheld. 

Falsified or fraudulent documents discovered at any time will cause all titles awarded by the WABA to any and all dogs owned by the guilty party to be permanently revoked with no refunds of any fees previously paid. 

Disqualifications:

Dogs with one testicle, deaf dogs, spayed or neutered dogs, dogs with obvious genetic conditions which affect overall soundness, and dogs with serious conformation faults as defined in the ABA and/or ABRA Breed Standards may not test for the BST, but are eligible to take the WST. 

Additional requirements for dogs testing for the AD:

A maximum of twenty dogs may be permitted to enter on one day with one judge.  Should the entry exceed twenty dogs, a second judge must be commissioned or extended to two days.  All dogs must be healthy and in good condition.  Sick dogs, weak dogs, bitches in heat, bitches in whelp and nursing bitches are not allowed to participate.  At the start of the test the handler will report to the judge in a sportsman like manner with the dog at the heel position.  The trial judge will verify that each dog is in good condition.  Dogs that present a tired or listless expression are to be disqualified.  The handler will conduct him/herself in a professional manner.  Unsportsmanlike like behavior will result in disqualification from the examination.  All decisions made by the trial judge are final.
